Past-Present-Future

The GSXR 750 WX (1999) was the 2nd year of a few major improvements over the already well respected GSXR. The 98 and 99 models both came with fuel injection and a few other modifications which meant it was significantly quicker than the 750's of that era.

Why the GSXR and not something else?

When I went out to buy a bike I had no intention of buying a GSXR, in fact I wanted a ZX7R as I prefered the look. Having test ridden both the difference was, for me at least, like night and day. I was sold. I have always liked the look of the Ducati's (not the 1199 onwards... sorry) but just firstly couldn't afford the tricky electronics, the horrible dry clutch sound and then the "I'm better than you because I ride a Ducati" mentality that you tend to see on the road.

Past-

The development of my bike started much like most others, a purchase of an exhaust system and a PC2. As time past by further improvements started to occur but the main focus was on getting her to handle correctly / how I like a bike to handle. Further modifications such as dropping the forks around 5mm and increasing the rear ride height by 5mm all allowed the nose to turn a little quicker.

Present-

Much of the current development is based along the lines of Colin Chapman's theory of 'Reduce and simplify' to this extent we have gotten the wet weight to be 175kg (3/4 tank of fuel at the time) and have removed some sub systems which really don't need to be included once other modifications have been completed.

Future-

As for the future, we are working to sub 170kg wet (full tank) so if it really isn't important then its getting removed. I am also planning to get onto a dyno to get the now fitted PC3 to be dialed in. Ideally we are looking for around 140RWHP but realistic expectations are more 132WRHP. But fitting an Airtray and the recently ported head and the soon to be sent off Cam's to piper all must happen first. I have been asked, when will she be finished? the answer is simply when I cannot get or make any better parts (or afford them!)
